Adjust Long tops

I have got this tops a couple years ago when I loved to wear leggings with long tops.

But nowadays my fashion has changed. I love to wear skirts and dresses.
And this tops is too long for my current fashion.

I have been thinking that I could shorten this tops... but I was a little scared in case if I would have mistaken.

While I have been browsing other people's sewing blogs (I love to read other people's blogs!) and noticed some people has the same ideas and they actually did it even they have never done before!

Today, I have decided to cut this tops..! Ohhhhh... Am I ok... Come on, Yasuko. You can do it!

I cut...

Gosh. I really cut the tops..

Then cut the elastic part.
Ok, I can attach them together. And I cut the elastic parts to half.

Now sewing time. To avoid mistaken, I have read the sewing machine instructions for overcasting as I don't have lock sewing machine.
I'm using Brother Innovis-55.

So, I set up like this. I set casting to 5.0.

Let's sewing..!
I have used a lots of pins to make sure elastic parts and fabric will be set correctly..

At first, I did sew very slow. But at the middle, I started to have a confident, so set machine speed up. But of course it was not max!

Then... Ho ho ho..! I did it!

Good, I will use this tops more! Yay!

Have a happy sewing,
Yasuko

Skip, skip, lalalalala~

I'm so happy as I have completed this B5030 dress in this morning!
I woke up a little early morning but today is the day moved to winter time, so I had additional 1 hour sleep time. :-)

Yesterday, I wanted to complete but I couldn't.. sewing by hand for finishing, took a little time..

Attached sleeve and handset for front part yesterday.

In this morning, I did hand sew to raw edge of skirt. it took 2 hours.. I just realised...

Here is the completed one!
I love this satin fabric.. so lovely. I'm trying to wear this dress maybe next week with Chanel type jacket!

I made all this.. Well done me!

And next project is... new dress for winter. Outside shows beautiful colour of leaf. Feeling very Autumn.

Have a nice time,

Butterick B5030 - Start sewing

Last week, I have cut all fabric which was used my favourite! (I love this fabric so much!)

And today, I have started to sew!

However I have had some mistaken.. I did sew wrongly.
And also I have found .....issue of cut fabric instruction,,
I need to report to Butterick about it!

Anyway, here is my top.
I really love this fabric. When I have found it from indian fabric shop, I was so excited.. as this fabric was £3/meter! :-)

It took totally 4 hours to sew until this level as I was struggled with mis-instruction from 'Cutting fabric layouts'....

And here is current status. and I need to put sleeve!
Please don't say this dress is for wrong season.. I know, I know UK is getting winter!

Maybe, maybe.. I could wear this before real UK winter.. wish!

Enjoyed with Denon envaya mini.
Have a nice dream..

Vintage Pattern

Hello!

I have a fun day yesterday - we woke up early and done all house tasks by 15:00.
So I went to walking around local village shops.

Local shop village has some charity shops. I like to look at charity shops as I want to find something different for me...

When I went to one charity shop, I was so surprised there are a lots of old patterns, buttons, trims and some fabrics. I assume someone passed away and family donate her all sewing stuff.

How nice discovery! I was a little excited to look them especially buttons and patterns.
Old patterns, if you are not interested in sewing, you just would think they are just a junk for you.
But for me, old fabric patterns are treasure. You can't by them at shop.

Also you have to be careful their size is different from nowadays pattern.

For example, I bought some 1980's dress at vintage dress shop.  Their size were 10. My current size is 8 (UK).
These size 10 was perfectly fit! So, between 1980 and 2010, general size has been updated to more bigger..

When you saw the clothes in Georgian days, you could find how tiny body people had.

In that charity shop, majority of pattern size was 14. But maybe I could modify it.

And I have pick up these two.

This one seems 1980. But I wanted to have something simple. This pattern is very simple and it says 'Very Easy Vogue'!

And this..
This is the hit! price tag was 30p! Not quite sure how old it was. I assume 1960..
When I saw this pattern, I was so excited! Nice design and this design was I was looking for.
The size is 14. However this package says:
Size 14 - Bust 36inch, waist 27 inch, hip 38 inch.
Maybe I can modify. to smaller.  McCalls size is a little smaller than Vogue pattern.

It's so difficult to identify the size, When I made a dress from Vogue pattern, it was size 10. But realised site 10 was a little bigger than my actual size. Then I modified the dress. (was tough..)

Anyway, I will try!

Also I have god a bargain fabric.

3.8m for £5! This fabric was from TOOTAL FABRIC. According to my husband, this company is making high quality fabric. I was so lucky.

Look, so beautiful.. what can I make.. :D

And today I have started my new project using B5030 Butterick.
Then cut all fabric.. Unfortunately I need to buy threads for this fabric. It seems white thread doesn't work.  :(

Have a nice evening!

burda style skirt from Oct 2015 - Done...

Sigh... I'm so tired.
In this early morning, my husband was very angry at Mac OS upgrading and he went to bed 5am!
I'm usually ignored upgrading OS as I don't want to spend time for it. And I was right! Ha ha~

Today, I have finally done this skirt.

I was not expected it took time to complete this skirt.
Because I had to learn new sewing techniques. (always..)

I have no energy left today. And I don't want to work with this fabric now! So bored.

But, I could wear like this..

I have the same fabric with different colour and I was thinking I could make dress with it.
Now I changed mind. Leave it now.

I'm going to use this fabric to make a dress! I need, I need bright fabric for working on it.

Have a nice day!
Yasuko
