McCall's 2549 - early 1970 vintage dress - nearly done

I have been busy modifying this McCall's 2549 1970's pattern for my size. (Because the original size is 14)

At the beginning to sew, I was a little doubt of this pattern as I thought it was not like images.
Like this.

However I realised this looks long waist part. Of course, I had to adjust the waist part as well!

Then I just done to shorter.

As this is a trial, I don't care how I could mess.. So just shortened.

And it looks better.. Immediately after I modify the copied pattern of front and back.

Now if I put sleeve part, how will be looks like..

wow..

I amazed my self.. looks very nice.. I maybe could use this for office outfit.

And back.  As I forgot to cut in the middle, It looks a little hmm.. but it's ok.

This dress's pattern is very nice! (I have change my minds!)
Now I am thinking about I have to use collar?
Maybe no. Using this patten, neck and front open part, it can be used interfacing and I just need to make neck with interfacing. it will be nice. or maybe I could modify as 'V' neck style.

At the result, I have shorten 1 inch to all parts. Quite interesting and learned which part I have to care when shorten the pattern from bigger size.

Phew... So happy.. :)

Have a nice evening!

Early 1970 Vintage dress trial start!

I have came back from holiday last night and today is my free day.

Of course I'm front of my sewing machine..

What will I do? I realised to make a party dress is a little too early and I just saw copied patterns on my desk which is still in the middle of tracing.

This is a 1970 vintage pattern which I mentioned this article.

And I really want to try this one.

The original size is 14 and while I was tracing the pattern, I have adjusted size to between 8 and 10.

This trial is using cheap fabric by my favourite indian shop and my aim is to adjust pattern to fit my size perfectly. I usually make a note to pattern how much adjust the particular parts but I have never done reduce the pattern size.
That's why I'm using cheap fabric to less damage of my wallet. ;-)

Just done front and back part. Let's see..

This is the front - darts is done quite nicely.

From side. Looks fit my size. Good progress...

Back. Looks OK.
......
......

Wait a minutes... Not OK at all!!!!!!

I just realised this back... I had to cut in the middle. I need to check the cutting plan..

Shock... I thought the fabric used as fold.. it was not fold.. I NEEDED TO CUT 2 PIECES.

See? that's why I shouldn't use expensive fabric at moment. Proof my points! Garrrrrr..

Oh well, finish today.

Sayonara!

Party season is coming!!

It's already in the middle of November. Yes, party season is nearly there...

Last night,  we have suddenly decided to go to New Years party.
And I have started to think about what kind of dress I will make..

Last year's party, I pick up the vintage dress from vintage shop but this year, I want to make a party dress!!

Now I have got some fabric for party dress.

My first plan was 1920 style,
but somehow ended up the modern type..

Now planning is to use above dress pattern. I have already got Vogue pattern (this image is from Newlook) so I don't need to buy new one.

To be honest, I wasn't planning to buy dark red/purple however mu husband said these colour were so beautiful. Then I bought. (^_^)"> haha..

Only 6 weeks to go.. I will definiately start to cut pattern on Saturday!
...and other dress for office... I need to make.... so busy!

-- Additional --- 1920 Charleston dance!

Have a nice evening,

Had got some local gossips from local shop, we have arrived at hotel.

And these cute couple of pandas is welcoming us.

They called Cornish Panda :-) (My husband called)

Oh and... we went to shopping centre and found a sewing shop inside. And I decided not buy fabric in this trip but I ......  bought....again.....

Tartan check one will be dress and I haven't decided what kind of pattern I will use. I like to make something modern.

And last night's hotel was in Devon. It was nice atmosphere..

I brought a could of dress I made with me - possibly I could take picture and I will post to this blog!

Have a nice evening,

Dress with Bands from burda style Aug 15

New Dress!

I have cut all fabric last Sunday and completed in this morning.

The original pattern from burdastyle Aug 2015.
It called DRESS WITH BANDS No.123

The band part, originally I was thinking I would use black satin or purple satin. However the non print satin would shows a little boring.

I have been thinking what kind of band I would use... and got an idea!

I have best piece of fabric from when I modified one tops a could weeks ago!

This one!

This piece of fabric, I used. But only limited size of fabric, I was a little struggling to cut.
Especially this fabric is chiffon, so I attached interfacing and then cut. (But of course I did wrongly but one piece of neck part.. Never done perfectly.. still learning..)

I re-used  above fabric - no cost! :-)

My next project is using vintage pattern from here.

This size is 14, I need to adjust the pattern after tracing. New challenge!

Have a nice day!

Denim Tops DIY

After having done tops DIY work last week, I was looking for another DIY project from my closet.

Then I have found one denim top.

This denim top,  I loved to wear before. But around waist is too loose. The basic design of this top is good, but this top is not easily co-ordinate with other clothes.

My idea is to adjust waist part to tight. So I could wear this with skirts or dress.

Let's start!

I have made marking by thread on front, back and side.

Before marking by thread, using pins to set the pleat part and tried on many times for making sure this top will be fit my body perfectly.

Now using sewing machine to sew!

It was easy job as I have already used thread to make pleats. Just sew on that thread.

Finished.
Looks great!

I'm quite satisfied. Because I don't need to buy a new top! It's a good saving money. ;-)

Next is making a new dress!

To be continued....
