Hello~!
I have just made my dress for new years party.
This dress's pattern is from Butterick B5982.
Here is the dress :)
Originally I wanted to modify the pattern like 1950 style. But I did't have a time for modify - just made as simple. However it took 2 days.. I'm not so fast dressmaker..
It's already 28th. Nearly new year.
Wish you have a nice new year.
Have a nice evening,
Yasuko
P.S. This dress was donated to Charity shop in Dec 2016

Men's Shirts - Ready for party!
Merry Christmas!
We had a nice Christmas lunch at Father in law's and my sister in law did very good job.. (I feel I'm a lazy sister in law.. )
Anyway, we had a nice time with family and Today was a sewing day.
Now I have done my husband's shirts and it ready for wearing for party!
I actually have never done button part before - so I was a little nervous I could make a button hole perfectly.
Of course my brother sewing machine has button hole function - so I have read the instruction carefully and did practises 4 or 5 times..
Yay! I have made button holes! I'm so happy..
My husband is so pleased this shirts and he discovered his ordered shirts was shipped yesterday from Shanghai (We expected shirts was made in somewhere in China..).
He will have TWO shirts for party.. Lucky him.
From tomorrow, I rush to make my party dress and ready for new years party..(hopefully)
Have a nice boxing day!

Merry Christmas! and men's shirts
Merry Christmas!
What I was doing last a couple days?
I've been making my husband's party shirt.
His order hasn't arrived and the online shop says ''Your order is now in production'.
so what? You don't give us 'when will be ready'???
We know my husband's shirts is in production but we want to know when they will dispatch it...
So! As I'm a good wife, I have bought black fabric and pattern.
However I traced a pattern from his shirts. ;-)
It's nearly done. I just need to add cuff and button!!
I will finish it after Christmas.
Have a nice Christmas!
Sayonara!

Price Tag - Over £10
Hello,
This is the last post of price tag related.
So more than £10/meter!
But only one... My wallet is very strictly controlled monthly budget. ;-)
And I have a story how to get this fabric..
As this dress is white base, I used white threads, it means you can get bigger thread(means cheaper).
So.. total cost was:
Fabric(£12) + Zip(£3.5) + Thread (£2) + Lining (£2) = £19.5 (no labour and pattern cost included)
And actually I bought black tweed fabric at the same time. What kind of dress I will make..
Have a nice day!

Price Tag Between £6 ~ 10
Hi there!
Today, I will show the dresses by fabric cost between £6 ~ 10/meter.
This famous dog skirt. I love this skirt and I wear it almost every week.
I don't remember how much but between £6 ~ 7/meter.
And this dress. My husband said very cute prints. Cost was £6/meter. And no zip required for this design!
And this wool skirt. I made this skirt almost 11 years ago. I bought this wool fabric at Fabric ware house in Uxbridge.
(Tops was given by my sister in Japan. She said she found this wasn't suit her after she bought. Now this is mine!)
This fabric cost was £7/meter. I bought it was bargain.
All closes cost is Fabric + Thread(£2.7~5) + Zip(£3.5) + Lining(£3).
If you like to create something, you can make your dress cheaper than known brands. If you don't like creativity work, don't do it. You will end up as waste your money..
I like to create something from childhood. Especially create something from around home. I made a basket from plastic thread when I was 10 years old. They were there and I thought I could make something. (very Japanese way of thinking...)
Next time is over £10/meter! OMG!
Have a nice evening,
Yasuko

Dress - Price Tag
Hello!
Next a couple of posts, I will show the dresses and fabric cost order by cheapest.
As I mentioned before, my sewing experience is approximately 1 year. So I am using cheap fabric regularly. Do you think people just started sewing to make a dress perfectly? Nah!
Of course I am trying to sew precisely following the instruction - but I sometimes struggle to understand how to do it.. Thanks YouTube you are my best tutor to help me figure out.
Even using YouTube, I sometimes made mistaken.. And then realised I had made mistaken when sewing the new dressing.. It's not a rocket science you need to learn a little by little.
That's why I am using cheap fabric - it's like my insurance. I'm not a person to use £100/meter fabric at the beginning... asking my wallet all the time - that person I am. ;-)
Anyway, interestingly I have found 50P/meter fabric in Southall and that fabric are really bargain!
And result of dresses were great.. It's fun to find it.. and super affordable!
Okay, here is the dresses list I had made last 9 month.
This Jacket is sooooooooooo useful. I regularly wear it. Glad I made it.
Dresse
This purple dress, I used silk fabric for edge part. So this looks more fantastic!
Next post will be the dresses by £1~1.5/ meter fabric.
Have a nice day!

Shopping at Southall
-- memo --
I have found some typo - I have corrected them now.. :-p
-- end memo --
Yesterday, I went to Southall for looking for winter fabric.
Southall is very Indian town. People working there, are all South Asians.
All shops are Indian related. All clothes shops are selling Indian costumes.
All accessories are bling bling.. I regret I had to wear the sunglasses..
Waling from Southall station, if you see the Quality Foods shop (top), you are now reached at the central town.
Opposite of this store, there is a fabric shop called 'Quality Fabric'. They are selling affordable price fabrics. I have been there sometimes to buy cottons.
Here is the map I roughly draw..
Quite different atmosphere.. and people are nice (if you are not rude!)
I have been to very expensive silk shop but according to my mother in law who is already passed away few years ago, their silk are cheaper than other shops in london.
There are so many interesting accessories for night dress if you want to make! My eyes was like 'wow..'.

This is the shopping centre. the inside is like HongKong's Chungking Mansions. But not so scary comparing to Chungking Mansions. I mean safe.
I had a lunch at small restaurant near the quality food shop. The waiter was very nice - but my tummy was not well at that time, so I could't eat all.. :(
What I bought?
Well... I felt I disorganise for shopping.. I bought only zip.
Ah... Why I didn't buy accessories for dress!!! Damn!
Maybe next time.
Have a nice evening!

McCALL's M7241 - Done! (Nearly...)
Good evening,
I have nearly nearly done this dress - McCALL's M7241.
I have started to cut the fabric on Sunday and finished(nearly as I have to do hem part!) today.
And pattern is from 'D'.
I thought this tartan fabric is best for 'D'. I personally like 'B'. But If I make 'B' by this fabric, it would be a little boring. (I thought...)
Back. I have re-done for zip part. I still need a practice. Zip part is not easy part.
However I am good for sleeve part. ;-) Luckily..
And view from side!
Oh, please do not say I need do ironing.. I will do it tomorrow.. :-D
The neckless is from charity shop as £1. My local charity shop is selling accessories with nice design. Gentle with my wallet. :)
I have bought short sleeves of heat tech inner from UNIQLO last week. It will make my body warm with this dress!
I made wear the black jacket on the top - any different ideas currently I don't have. Do you have any ideas what kind of jacket or over I could wear on the top of this dress as it's winter!
Sleepy now... (zzzz...)
Have a nice dream,
Yasuko
