Sewing books!

Hello!

It's my birthday today and I have got a nice birthday gift from husband.

Them!

They are I was planning to buy but somehow I didn't buy.. maybe they are a little heavy to carry on in the town.

I have found that this 'FREEHAND FASHIN' is quite interesting as I have never thought someone actually does it. Of course I have watched the SewingBee which she appeared and I wondered how she make the dress by freehand technique.

Her blog is here.  She is amazing. Totally blown away after reading her book...

I haven't read other book yet - so no comment I could give now. ;-)

Happy Sewing!

Gather skirt by rainbow colour!

Hello,

As I mentioned my new skirt from last post, this is the one I have made without pattern.

Cut the fabric 78x116(hight x wide) plus waist belt.

I have already worn it in Germany. I quite like this skirt as its style for Spring and Summer.
Top is, I worn blue colour shirts like this.

Then put the dark blue colour flat shoes.
As I can adjust my waist size, this skirt is very comfortable. That's why I like to make my clothes on my on. ;-)
This looks make me feel like 'Holiday in Rome'. :-p

I am planning make other summer dress. Currently I have started to trace the pattern.
While I was making the coat, I really thought pattern is so important. I have traced pattern and check it with my bodies. Check carefully the bast level and darts. Started sewing a year ago and I have started to learn more and more. I have checked last years 'thread' magazine many times and started to understand what they are saying. When I read that magazine, I couldn't understand all. But I now understand what they says. Practicing made me more easily figure out how to read the patterns such as Simplicity, Vogue and burda.
Amazingly I have now easily attach zip as well! And I can do 'bind hem stitch' by sewing machine.
Feeling so great.. :-)

Have a nice day!

Tops from burda 6914

Hello!

a couple weeks ago, I have bought a sewing magazine called 'Sew Style & Home'. It came with the free pattern of burda 6914.

burda 6914

It looks nice, doesn't it?

I used pattern 'C' to make some tops.. ;-)

[Indian style]

Do you recognise it? This fabric is also used for this dress...

[Italian style]

Did you notice this fabric is also used by this dress. ;-)

They were very good under the warm German weather.

In that Germany trip, majority of clothes were made by me! This was what I really wanted for this trip. Ah... so happy..

Next post will be talking about my new spring skirt. :-P

Have a nice day!

Coat - burda 6772!

Hello!

I have made the coat using burda 6772 pattern. It was the first time to make the coat and I spent 1 week for it!

I have already worn it in Germany for visiting the show. :-) I have received so many compliments. :-D

My first plan was to use the red buttons from sewing shop(or charity shop). However I have decided to make button using the same fabric.
It's quite easy if you use 'Self-Cover Buttons' from craft or sewing shop. ;-)

This fabric, I have bough a year ago... my first plan was for making a skirt. But.. somehow I have changed my minds - to make a coat. It was a big challenge for me.

The problem is I had only 3 meters of this fabric. So I had not so many choices.
This pattern, burda 6772 says it requires 3.10 meters...for my size.

If I choose the 'B', it requires 3.4 meters.. Then I thought I could go for 'A' and modify the pattern for my size as 'petit'.. means I have to cut the pattern for shorter.
It works! I have spent all fabric - no regret!

Have a nice day,
Yasuko
